Hello from HARP wallen’s newest Account Executive

Hello everyone! Well firstly I would like to introduce myself, my name is Christine Houston. I am the new office newbie. I go by the name of Christine despite new or prospective candidates and clients calling me various names such as Clara, Caroline or Kristina which has caused endless troubles on the communication front. So, lesson number one learnt within my first week at HARP wallen is that I pretty much have to answer to any name given to me!

For those of you wanting to know a little about me, well I have lived in various countries, developing my passion for travel and learning new cultures. I taught special needs children for a number of years before taking the plunge into the travel industry starting with undertaking my masters in Aviation Management and International Tourism and then securing the Account Executive role at HARP wallen. So far, so good!

Despite the naming issue on the communication front, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week at HARP wallen. My new colleagues have been incredibly welcoming and the office culture is one of relational building, one that definitely reflects HARP wallen’s unique company’s characteristics and carries through to the day to day activities.

The top 5 lessons I have learnt on my first week.

  • Answer to any name!
  • Coffee is key!
  • Relationship building is everything in this business.
  • Emily’s pens are not to be messed with, if you borrow one of her pens, be sure to return ASAP!
  • Being assertive and not aggressive along with having all the facts and figures to stand your ground when it comes to negotiations allows for successful, winning negotiating!

All in all a great first week and long may the learning and successes ontinue!
